About Lambda Sigma membership

Each year 50 freshmen students are selected as candidates for membership in Lambda Sigma and serve as active members during their sophomore year. Membership, which is based on scholastic achievement, community service, campus involvement, and leadership, is highly selective and is regarded as an honor. Along with this honor comes a great deal of commitment. Lambda Sigma serves both the university and the community by conducting many service projects throughout the year. In addition, meetings are held every two weeks to conduct any business and organize service projects. Should you be selected for membership, your attendance and enthusiastic participation at all meetings and events would be imperative.

All freshmen ranked in the top 35 percent of their class may submit an application for membership. All applications are screened, and 100 applicants are invited to interview for membership. Invitations for membership are extended to the top 50 students.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
Prior to initiation, each new member of Lambda Sigma pays an initiation fee which includes national dues and local chapter fees. Dues are $70 and cover the membership certificate, national publications during the active year of membership, and general operating expenses.

After initiation, Lambda Sigma members must:
*Attend two meetings each month (Meetings are generally on the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:00)
*Participate in ten hours of service projects each semester (or a similar service requirement determined by the executive officers)
*Participate in a mandatory fundraiser

Mon., March 25 - New member list posted - LS Website
Thurs., April 4 at 5:00 - Chapter meeting & Officer elections - TBD
Thurs., April 11 at 5:30 - Initiation - Tully Auditorium in Thompson Hall
